The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II push the limits of active noise cancellation for in-ear earbuds. With their revolutionary CustomTune technology and redesigned 30% more compact design, they aim to reclaim the throne of best ANC earbuds against AirPods Pro 2 and Sony WF-1000XM5.
The QuietComfort Earbuds II mark a radical evolution from the previous generation. Bose listened to criticism and reduced volume by 30%, making these earbuds much more discreet. Ultra-soft silicone ear tips and separate stability bands allow millimeter adjustment: the fit test in the Bose Music app guides effectively. Once in place, comfort is royal, and the earbuds don't move even during moderate sports sessions. ANC is the centerpiece. CustomTune technology automatically calibrates noise reduction and equalization based on your ear morphology via a test signal. The result is stunning: in a crowded metro, silence becomes almost absolute, surpassing AirPods Pro 2 and equaling or even exceeding some over-ear headphones. Low-frequency noises (engines) disappear completely, and even nearby conversations become an inaudible murmur. Transparency mode is decent without being exceptional, slightly behind AirPods. The audio signature deserves praise. The 9.3mm drivers offer rich, balanced and detailed sound. Bass is present and deep without smearing, mids natural and warm, treble airy without aggression. Soundstage impresses for in-ears. CustomTune also automatically adjusts sound, ensuring consistent signature regardless of ear tip fit. Battery life exceeds promises with 7h15 in real testing (ANC enabled, 75dB volume) versus 6h advertised. The case adds 3 complete charges. Only downside: no Qi wireless charging, USB-C only. Limitations are elsewhere: premium $299/€299 price, no Bluetooth multipoint, codecs limited to AAC and SBC.
